“Enriching Lives” by creatively enhancing and sustaining quality education in a relevant global environment

Our

History

Aga Khan Education Services, India (AKES, I- www.akdn.org/akes) is a part of the global network. Its footprints can be traced back to the early 1900s when Sir Sultan Mohommed Shah started the first Aga Khan School in 1905 in Mundra, Kutch, Gujarat. AKES, I operates ten schools, a hostel in Hyderabad, Pre-primary and Rural Primary Education Centres under its Rural Education Advancement Programme (REAP) in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Platinum Jubilee School, Gadchiroli was established by the Platinum Jubilee Education Society in 1972. It is the first English medium school in the district. The school was co-opted by AKES, I in 2003.

Currently PJHS is a co-educational school, following the Maharashtra State Education Board, providing education to over 1200 students from Pre-primary to Class XII. Over the years, the school has established itself as an institution offering quality education to children of varied backgrounds and cultures.

Competent early childhood educators facilitate a strong Early Childhood Development programme which lays the foundation for a child’s continuing growth and education. This has been built upon in later years by capable faculty who deliver a rigorous academic and co-curricular programme. Students are encouraged to pursue academic excellence while developing into responsible ethical young adults with a passion for lifelong learning.

The school has taken the consultancy services from ‘Adhyayan’ (www.adhyayan.asia) 2012-13 onwards for the soft support, and will continue to do the same in escalating the school’s child development programme.

‘Adhyayan’ is an education movement dedicated to raising the standards of education by focusing on the review, evaluation and modeling of best Indian and international practice. Adhyayan’s policy is based on years of experience in education accross the world.

From 2015-16, the school has joined hands with XSEED (www.xseed.in) in order to strengthen its already wellgroomed ongoing practices. XSEED is a complete school learning program to be employed in Nursery to Std. VIII which follows the proven 5-Step Experiential Learning Method. It combines a well-researched curriculum with continuous teacher development, enhances the level of classroom learning and monitors performance and skill set development of the students.

The first school in the district to introduce technology as a mode of school-parents-school communication. An android app – Flexibuzz, developed by an Australian company has been commissioned in the school from 2016-17 session. It is used for being closely connected with the students and their parents and keeping them updated on the go. Provides them unique ‘user id’ and ‘password’ for their child. Logging in with these credentials, the parents start receiving the appropriate class wise information uploaded by the school from time to time.

NIIT – National Institute of Information Technology (www.niit.com), is another big name in IT segment which has been associated with the school from 2017-18 session in order to provide the competitive curriculum. It not only provides IT education to the students but also makes them capable to be fit suitably to the need of the IT industry.

Being an active member of the PJJC family for two years was a valuable experience. The school played a major role in the academic upliftment and the teachers took it as their personal duty to help students. The learning was not just limited to academics but focused on overall development. You cannot succeed in life unless you have learned the core values like respect, people skills, commitment, etc for which the school provides diverse platforms like Annual Day, Student council, Sports festival, etc. As the Prime Minister of the student council, I got the confidence to manage events, handle people that will definitely help me throughout my life. I feel grateful to be a ‘Platialumini’.

I remember my first day, I was a bit nervous.stepping out, there were tons of people to help me. This school has not only focused on academics but also on co- curricular activities like sports and dramatics. These extra curricular activities were my keen interest. It is absolutely brilliant in terms of the amount of leadership abilities they inculcate in you. Once you get settled in, you will just fall in love with the things you can do. One of my favorite things in this school are assemblies by the different classes, because they are always interesting and fun to watch. I have became much more responsible after joining the school as it allows students to become leader of a group. Our teachers are so good, giving explanations which are so interesting that we literally get involved in the concept. If you ever desire some space for you to grow into a much better human then this is the school for you.
